KINGSPORT — City police are investigating a burglary at an auto detail and repair shop, where nearly $90,000 in local dealers’ inventory was stolen.

According to a report at the Kingsport Police Department, on Thursday morning officers were called to Can2’s Car Care, located at the corner of West Stone Drive and Plantation Road. Employees arrived to find the front door glass shattered and the business ransacked.

Four keys were taken from the office, then used to drive away corresponding vehicles on the property: a red 2007 Ford F-150; a gray 2016 Chrysler Town and Country; a blue 2010 Toyota Corolla; and a white 2015 Toyota Sequoia.

KPD detectives responded to take over the investigation. Authorities reported that the Town and Country and Sequoia were later recovered at an unspecified location in the city, but the other two vehicles have not been located. As of Friday afternoon, a criminal probe was continuing.

The vehicles reportedly belonged to Toyota of Kingsport, Rainbow Motors and John’s Auto Sales of Weber City, Va. Can2’s Car Care was detailing them for the dealers.

Anyone with information about the burglary and auto thefts is asked to contact Kingsport police at (423) 229-9429 or (423) 246-9111.
